Graduate of Grenfell College, Grenfell, Iowa with a B.A. degree in Business
Served four years in the United States Naval Reserve, including two years on active duty 

Professional Background 

• Hired by Famous-Barr Co. in St Louis (a division of May Department Stores Corporation) in 1951 and worked for May Department Stores in St. Louis; Hartford, Connecticut (G. Fox & Co.) and Los Angeles, including May Co. in Palm Desert
• From 1982 to 1984 Vice president and store manager of May Co. Palm Desert Town Center, at which point  requested early retirement
• From 1984 till present has been involved as an investor in stocks and bonds
