Cheri Nadell - Student Representative
Cheri Nadell is a graduate of Chapman University in paralegal studies earning her paralegal certification.
She has approximately 19 years experience as a paralegal in the areas of bankruptcy law, business law and real estate law. Many of those years she held concurrent positions as paralegal and office manager with responsibilities ranging from bookkeeper, handling numerous business and trust accounts, to managing the computer networking systems, all with dedication and integrity.
While working and raising her son, now 23 years of age, she had taken college courses when time permitted; but, she had never pursued her education full time. With the state of the economy limiting her employment opportunities and with the assistance and encouragement of her partner, she decided to devote all of her time toward getting a Computer Science Degree and enrolled at College of the Desert (“COD”) to complete the required course work before transferring to the University of California, Irvine.
While attending COD, she has been involved with many activities. She is a member of MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science and Achievement), has participated in several of the MESA school programs including the Success through Collaboration and California Community College Program. As part of her work experience, she researched and wrote a paper on the viability of web-based, artificial intelligence software programs for teaching mathematics. She has also tutored other students in mathematics at the Academic Skills Center of COD.
Cheri Nadell has been on the Honor Roll for academic excellence, inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and has been on the “Dean's List.” She is a member of COD’s Student Body Government, appointed as an independent senator of the Student Council. Employing her unique skills, she also serves as a member of COD’s Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee as representative of the student body.
