Kenneth Feenstra
Kenneth Feenstra has been a resident of Palm Springs for thirty-two years
serving as the Redevelopment Director of that City for the first eighteen years
during that time. He has been a Redevelopment Consultant to the cities of Indio
and Desert Hot Springs and a Development Consultant to various land development
companies in the Valley. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University
of California, Berkeley, and is a Licensed Architect on the State of California.
Feenstra has been involved in Redevelopment work since he joined the Department
of Housing and Urban Development in its San Francisco office in 1965. He later
worked for the Los Angeles Redevelopment Agency as the Director of
Rehabilitation in the Normandy area on the rehabilitation of neighborhoods. He
was a consultant to the cities of Long Beach and Pasadena prior to coming to
Palm Springs and was past president of the Southern California Chapter of the
National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.
Feenstra has served on the Boards of two non-profit housing groups in Redlands
California and was actively involved as the co-chairman of the Business and
Retention Program for the City of Palm Springs. He was a co founder of the Palm
Springs Economic Development Corporation. He is a member of O’Donnell Golf Club
and served on various positions on the Board, including President.
Feenstra continues to reside in Palm Springs with his wife of 52 years, Mary
Lou. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.
